Safer than a human: Creating a fully autonomous transport service
Driverless cars were once the stuff of science fiction. Now, we’re living in an era in which automated driving technology is just around the corner. There are a range of viable examples out there, at various stages of maturity. The real challenge, though, is to welcome self-driving vehicles into the world confident in the knowledge that they’ll perform safely on our roads. Any self-driving system and service must be acceptably safe — and ultimately at least as safe as a human-driven equivalent.
